Yes, colon hydrotherapy is one of the gentlest body therapies and is considered extremely safe. Being an essentially natural process, there is virtually no danger with a colonic. However, safety also depends on the quality of the equipment and the expertise of the therapists. Our team of colon hydrotherapists is professionally trained, certified, and thoroughly tested to ensure proper handling of the equipment. At our wellness center, colon hydrotherapy sessions are conducted with the utmost respect for privacy and comfort in a designated private suite. We strive to create an ambiance that is both comforting and conducive to meditation, ensuring a relaxing experience for our clients. During the procedure, clients are discreetly covered from the waist down with a warmed, large organic cotton sheet to maintain dignity and comfort.

Our clinic employs an open system for colon hydrotherapy, utilizing disposable tubing to ensure hygiene and safety. The process begins with the application of Coconut Oil or Castor Oil for lubrication of the anal area, followed by the gentle insertion of the proctal tube 1-2 inches into the rectum. Temperature-regulated water, heated to a comfortable 99-104 degrees Fahrenheit and purified through four stages including ozonation, is then introduced into the colon. The water flow is carefully controlled, allowing for a gentle and gradual filling to a level that is comfortable for the client, accompanied by lymphatic massage to relax the abdomen, use of our exclusive heat healer, combining castor oil packs for the utmost experience supporting the liver and colon. This process facilitates a dignified and sanitary release of waste and urine into a reclined basin. The session, lasting between 60-90 minutes, concludes with the client having the opportunity to eliminate any remaining waste. Afterward, clients are provided with access to a private bathroom suite for personal cleanup, ensuring a respectful and professional experience throughout.

An enema targets only the rectum and the lower portion of the colon (about 8–12 inches), whereas colon hydrotherapy effectively reaches the entire colon, which spans 5 to 7 feet. Enemas typically use higher pressure, which can cause spasms and significant discomfort, leading to minimal fills. In contrast, colon hydrotherapy employs lower pressures and carefully regulated temperatures, making it significantly more effective and comfortable. According to renowned centenarian Dr. Norman Walker, a single colon irrigation is equivalent to 30 enemas. 

It is possible to cleanse the entire length of the colon during a professionally administered session. The small intestine is not specifically involved; however, the small intestine may be cleansed with the help of an oral intestinal cleanser.

If you have a concern about your health or the appropriateness of colon hydrotherapy for you, you should consult your physician or licensed healthcare practitioner.  Contraindications for the use of the Angel of Water include, but may not be limited to: recent colon, rectal or abdominal surgery, congestive heart failure, intestinal perforations, carcinoma of the rectum, fissures or fistula, severe hemorrhoids, abdominal hernia, renal insufficiency, first or last trimester of pregnancy and cirrhosis of the liver.  Professionally administered colon hydrotherapy is otherwise very safe.

The Angel of Water system uses single-use, sterile rectal nozzles.  The use of sterile disposables coupled with the implementation of the Angel of Water’s multi-stage sanitation protocol with EPA registered disinfectants leaves no danger of contamination.

Actual session time is about 30-40 minutes, but you should plan on about 1 ½ hours for your f irst consultation with session.

The number of colon hydrotherapy treatments needed varies based on individual goals and reasons for seeking treatment. Some clients may only require one session followed by regular monthly maintenance, while others, especially those new to colon hydrotherapy, may need multiple sessions to see significant improvements. This is because the colon can be filled with gas and stubborn fecal matter that may not be easily dislodged in the first session.

For those looking to jumpstart a healthier lifestyle or address issues like constipation, a series of 6 to 8 treatments within a short period (1 or 2 sessions per week) is often recommended for optimal benefits and relief from symptoms. Your therapist will discuss your specific needs and desired outcomes during your initial consultation.

Please arrive at least 5 minutes prior to your appointment time. This will allow you to relax beforehand and visit the bathroom if necessary. We also advise that you do not consume any food 2 hours prior to receiving Colon Hydrotherapy. 

Your modesty is always respected during the treatment. You will be fully covered, and a sheet will be placed over you to maintain your dignity throughout the session. The open system provides privacy, but if you prefer additional support from the practitioner, you will remain covered at all times. Additionally, any medical details shared during the consultation are kept strictly confidential. 

The key to a successful session is staying well-hydrated, chewing your food thoroughly, and practicing deep, abdominal breathing. Additionally, depending on how your digestive system functions, you may benefit from incorporating some fiber, or other supplements into your routine. Discussing your specific needs and concerns with your colon hydrotherapist before your session can provide valuable insights and enhance your experience. 

Most likely, you’ll feel fantastic after your session—lighter, more energized, and with an enhanced sense of well-being. Many first-time clients even describe it as one of the most wonderful experiences they’ve had. Once the colonic is complete, you can resume your daily activities.

In some cases, the session may prompt several subsequent bowel movements over the next few hours, but these are manageable and won’t cause uncontrollable urgency or discomfort. You might also feel momentarily lightheaded or chilled. Occasionally, a detox reaction may occur, presenting symptoms such as headaches, backaches, nausea, emotional release, or low energy.

While these sensations can be uncomfortable, they are temporary and indicate the body is releasing toxins it no longer needs. Be sure to relax, drink plenty of water, and treat yourself with kindness during this time.

No, in fact it is usually a good time to receive colon hydrotherapy since your body is already cleansing & the treatment may help relieve cramping associated with menstruation. Your menstrual flow will not interfere with the success of the treatment. Flushing the colon can also reduce abdominal pressure associated with menstrual cycles. All we ask is that you remove your tampon before the treatment starts.
